MELEK-THA is the Ritual Death Industrial project
from Lord Evil, manager of EVIL OMEN Records. After several
works for releasing intros for Black-Metal bands, Ludo started
real composition in '94. ADIPOCERE released his first CD
Astrum Argentinum, a dark oppressant ritualistic
opus inspired by Evil and Occult themes.
Seeing the evolution of his material through
advance 2nd opus De Magia Natvrali Daemonica and
mostly '97 titles, MELEK-THA really finds his mature statement.
Unfortunately to be signed on a Metal label has hidden his
work to Ritual Industrial scene. That's why I've decided to
introduce you to my friend Ludo, even if it wasn't that easy!
Ha!
What about your first CD?
It was good, I'm quite happy with it. Actually I've
stolen many things to everyone and that's crap! hahaha! On the
press side I've received good reviews generally, and interviews.
Most people use nightmarish and apocalyptic describing words as
the Metal scene isn't used to such music. The CD has been pressed
to 2000 copies, but ADIPOCERE hasn't done many things. On the
contract I was announced 4000 ads, but I've never seen one! On
the other hand, there were a lot of promo CDs. I don't think I'll
release my next CD on this label even if it tries to be opened to
Indus/Darkwave.
Why didn't you ask your friends of OSMOSE label?
No Hervé didn't want to. He said MELEK-THA's
music making him sick, that's stressed and anguished him, which
is what I aim to!
What about your recent projects?
I'm in contact with some Canadians from ACASALIS radio
show, who give me a very good support and air play! One of the
three guys is on a project for photos for the next MELEK-THA CD,
still with the gas-mask and factories backgrounds. They run as
well a new label GAYA Productions which has just done the first
CD of TRANSCENDENCE Eternal Stream. They're interested in
releasing my 2nd CD De Magia Natvrali Daemoniaca, and
perhaps using my music with their insane texts. This would be a
melting of our both creations.
After being on a Metal label, you think it would be a
better idea to go on an Industrial one?
Yes definitely, I search a label in this scene, so
anyone reading this interested in receiving some materials, should
contact me.
Tell us more about your incredible new titles.
I've worked with a Portuguese guy doing SHITHEAD
DISMANTLED BANG. I've mixed both projects for intros or even one
full track. He's rather into all electro sounds and intros.
At the beginning Nicolas was the other member of your
band, what about him now?
Actually Nicolas was here for the fun. It's him on the
photos of the CD, done by a professional photograph who was first
frightened by our concept of night shots with fire, hoods and
smoke-producing! I would have liked burning crosses with models
crucified on them. It would have been fun! Nicolas really wanted to
invest in the band, but hasn't done much. He's now doing his own
Noise-core band RUNNING GUTS as well as his distribution project
specialized in Noise-core.
What has influenced you to cross the bridge between
Metal and Industrial/Ritual Music?
Bands like IN SLAUGHTER NATIVES, SIELWOLF, films like
THE EXORCIST, EVIL DEAD, LA CITÉ DES ENFANTS PERDUS. I was
doing intros for bands and some friends told me to continue.
How do you compose generally?
As soon as I've got an idea I write it down, then with
my notes I work on the mixing of ingredients and maybe after thirty
versions I get satisfied with it!
So introduce now the readers to your label EVIL OMEN.
EVIL OMEN is doing well. For instance the new DEMONIAC
Stormblade has sold 2000 copies in one month. As they deserve
a good support I've decided to make a Digipak with a wonderful cover
painting. I'm always amazed about the incredible packaging in
Industrial Music. It would be too expensive for me, especially
hand-made ones! But I hope one day I will do one, perhaps a 100-copy
CD. Every time I sign a new band I say "It's for this one!". Look
for our first CD of incredible CONQUEROR!
